I just filmed Richard's Wampum class display and history lecture. The content was very fascinating and engaging as he had students come up to hold wampum belts while he talked about the meaning behind each individual belt. Ian came with me and filmed for a little bit when I decided to run up there and hold the belt for one of the displays. He talked about the belts very passionately and you could tell he was honored to be a part of making the wampum belts. Richard was actually adopted into the Haudenosaunee bear tribe and I think that made his love for wampum all the more special. I think the neatest piece was the spoon belt. I will give a quote from him about this belt on the homepage. Also, he talked a little bit about some contemporary issues the Native Americans are going through which allows more people to see that issues and discrimination and withholding of rights are still going on today.
